Adopt a Lagoon Zone — Page Content
Page Introduction & Images
Intro Text (blank line between paragraphs)
Project Lagoon's Adopt a Lagoon Zone program gives individuals, families, fishing groups, schools, businesses, and organizations a direct way to help protect the Indian River Lagoon. Each available zone represents an approximately four-mile section of lagoon water and its adjoining shoreline. Participants may adopt through hands-on service or support Space Coast Water Sweep as we conduct Project Lagoon work within the zone. This is a stewardship and recognition program. Adoption does not provide ownership, exclusive access, regulatory authority, or permission to enter private or restricted property.

Adopt Through Action (Active Adopter)
Description
Become an Active Adopter and personally monitor your assigned zone from your boat, kayak, or paddleboard. Use the existing Project Lagoon survey and reporting tools to document visible debris in the water, shallow areas, and accessible shoreline.
Benefits (one per line)
A defined four-mile lagoon zone. Your approved public name displayed on the zone map. An assigned map color. Colored pins for your verified reports. Credit for items you find and report. Separate credit for items you lawfully remove. A personal zone dashboard. Survey tracks and progress. A growing record of your impact.
No-Donation Note
There is no required donation to become an Active Adopter. Your time, vessel use, fuel, surveys, reports, and lawful debris-removal work are already valuable contributions.
Optional Supporting Adopter Note (blank line between paragraphs)
Active Adopters may optionally help support SCWS staff, vessel operations, fuel, sonar, mapping, data review, and authorized recovery work. If SCWS discovers hidden debris inside an active Supporting Adopter's zone during Project Lagoon operations, the verified pin may use the adopter's zone color and provide discovery-support recognition while still identifying SCWS as the actual survey team. A contribution does not guarantee that SCWS will survey the entire zone, visit on a particular date, locate every object, or remove everything discovered.
Support a Zone (Zone Supporter)
Description (blank line between paragraphs)
Become a Zone Supporter if you want to help Project Lagoon but do not plan to conduct surveys or debris-removal work yourself. Individuals, families, businesses, organizations, and sponsors can support an available four-mile zone while Space Coast Water Sweep performs Project Lagoon work in that area as staffing, funding, conditions, safety, and operational priorities allow.
Benefits (one per line)
Your approved public name displayed on the supported zone. An assigned map color. A public listing in the map legend. Access to the zone's verified findings and progress. Recognition when your support helps make an SCWS discovery possible. An impact history showing surveys, observations, and recoveries connected to the zone.
Disclaimer
Supporting a zone helps fund Project Lagoon surveying, vessel operations, equipment, mapping, documentation, monitoring, data review, and authorized recovery activities. SCWS surveys and recovers items as resources, conditions, and authorization allow. A donation does not guarantee complete coverage or recovery.
